Jennifer Rooke grew up in Hay River, Northwest Territories and graduated from Diamond Jenness Secondary School and Aurora College. She has a Bachelor of Education in Native Studies having graduated from the Indian Teacher Education Program through the partnership between Aurora College and the University of Saskatchewan, a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Masters degree in Educational Technology. She also has a number of certificates and diplomas including in Special Needs from the University of Colorado. She has taught in Adult Education in a small, remote community for Aurora College, and Indigenous Studies for the University of Saskatchewan. She is currently an Associate Chair in Academic Upgrading for NorQuest College.
Jennifer traveled across the NWT working with Sport North to bring sports camps to remote communities, as well as with the Federal government as a Firearms Officer. Jennifer has worked with a large number of First Nations across Saskatchewan to bring adult education programs to their communities. She has presented on Indigenous Education at a number of conferences including the Colleges and Institutes of Canada main conference and Indigenous Education symposium. She has also presented on Gamification in the Classroom, and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in an Academic Upgrading Classroom
